Our Services
Birth Service
So that you can get to know us, and learn about our philosophy if birth attendance, we will meet with you and your partner to discuss your expectations and thoughts about the birth, and share with you our knowledge and experience about the services that doulas can provide from pre-delivery, through the birth process, and post-partum.
Once you invite us to serve as your doulas, we will meet with you for a pre-natal visit. During this visit we can discuss your hopes and fears about the birth and answer any questions that we are qualified to. If you would like to write a birth plan, we can help you do so. As your birth doulas, we are available to you by both phone and email. Closer to your birth, a call schedule will be created and emailed to you.
The doula that attends your birth will provide continuous physical, emotional, and spiritual support during your labor and birth. During labor, many of the following techniques will be used to support the birth process:
Throughout the labor and delivery, the doula will serve as your advocate and help you to make informed decisions regarding the birth of your child.
Postpartum Services
Your doula will remain with you after the birth to assist with needs as varied as breastfeeding initiation, photography, and proper nutrition. Your attending doula will meet with your family for one postpartum visit, usually in the week following the birth, during which you might reconstruct your birth experience, and answer any questions. This is also her opportunity to celebrate her beautiful new baby, and parenthood
Doulas are non-clinical birth attendant professionals. As doulas, we cannot change your clinical provider’s (doctor/midwife) protocols and practices. Therefore, choosing a clinical professional whose philosophies are aligned with yours is key. If you are feeling unsure about your choice of obstetrics practice we will be happy to discuss other options to you
